Photos and media

Preserved bytes are useful only if they can be accessed and interpreted. Avichive prepares images for viewing, converts video into browser-compatible media, and adds a separate local workflow for reviewing faces and people.

Originals and playable media explains the source-to-display pipeline: cloud originals, full-frame images, thumbnails, video remuxing/transcoding, and bounded preparation.

Photo analysis and people follows viewable photo content through detection, normalized face geometry, manual naming, candidate matches, review state, and people galleries. Editing and inference stay local; production receives a display copy of confirmed records.

These processes do not artistically repair or regenerate photographs. They make source material accessible and add reviewable metadata while keeping original preservation separate.
